Natural Family Planning and Non-Hormonal Birth Control – Ladycomp Fertility Monitor Review

September 27th, 2011

Lady-Comp is a compact electronic fertility monitor that measures the basal body temperature to determine fertile days in order to either plan or prevent pregnancy effectively. The birth control function of the Ladycomp is claimed to be 99.3% effective, and the fertility program of the Ladycomp Baby has been certified by the FDA.

How to Use the Ladycomp

The device comes with an integrated thermometric sensor, so once you bought it there isn’t very much more to it other than to enter your personal information such as age, weight and height and you are ready to go.

All you then need to do is take your temperature via the attached thermometer before getting up, which only takes a few seconds. To “train” the Ladycomp as to familiarize itself to your individual cycle, you then press + on the days you have your period and – on all other days.

Depending on whether you are trying to get pregnant (Ladycomp Baby program) or aiming to prevent pregnancy, the monitor will then tell you via a colored display when a pregnancy is most likely to be achieved or prevented. Again, the color indication is very straightforward, using red for fertile and green for infertile days.

During it’s “training” phase the device may show an additional orange signal, letting you know that it is still learning and that you should not have unprotected sex should you not want to become pregnant. However, due to a vast database of pre-set cycles it does not take long for the Ladycomp to become accustomed to your personal cycle and quickly shows more green days on which you can make love without further precaution.

Who is it for

According to the company’s own website it is suitable for everyone, no matter if you have irregular cycles or will soon enter menopause.

However, if you are breastfeeding or are not ovulating due to some other reason then this method is not suitable for you (at least not as long as the situation prevails). Of course, seeing that STD’s are a serious issue to consider, being in a long-term, trusting relationship is a pre-requisite for using any method besides condoms.

The manufacturer Valley Electronics claims for their device to be 99.3% effective in preventing pregnancy (if used correctly), which is almost as safe as the pill!!! What more could we ask for?

Furthermore, the basal body temperature method is claimed to increase your chances up to 68% should you use the Ladycomp Baby program to help you conceive. Ladycomp Review

Ladycomp is a non-hormonal, hence non-invasive method of preventing pregnancy naturally and helps you familiarize yourself with your cycle.

Once you purchased the monitor there is no follow-up costs as you need no test sticks or other accessories for the device to function fully. Due to the inset temperature sensor that feeds the readings directly into the device there is also no need for charting or graphing of any kind making it truly easy to use.

The rather high cost of 5 for the initial purchase may look like a disadvantage at first, however, the advantages of the long durability and high quality of the device coupled with the invaluable benefit of not having to pollute our bodies with artificial hormones anymore do outweigh the disadvantages by far.

Additionally, unlike its competitors, Ladycomp is reliable from the start, and has absolutely no follow-up costs. So in the long run the investment pays off twice over. Due to its accuracy the number of days where additional contraception must be used is cut down to a minimum of 6 days during which you are fertile (the day you ovulate and five days before), so that is extra good news. If you would like to research a bit further into the various birth control methods I recommend the list assembled by Valley Electronics, which I found very comprehensive.

As for the Ladycomp fertility monitor in particular, reviews on Amazon and throughout forums on the web are downward positive. Used devices are hard to get, which I interpret as a good sign as people don’t try to get rid of it. I also noted that many mention the good service provided to them both in cases of repair or when simply needing advice – certainly a very important aspect!

Hence, if you are looking for a natural way to either help you conceive a child or prevent pregnancy Ladycomp appears to be one of the best and reliable methods available on the market today. It offers a long-term solution without any of the nasty side-effects of hormonal birth control, and if you started off using the monitor as a preventive tool you can then later easily up-date it with the Baby program making it well worth the initial investment. I sure am happy with mine!

Are There Any Side Effects from Omega 3?

September 24th, 2011

People who are in need of omega 3 fatty acids often ask the question, are there any side effects from omega 3? The answer is no. Good quality omega 3 supplements or fish oil capsules made from pharmaceutical grade fish oil do not cause any adverse health effects.

Although omega 3 fats as nutrients do not cause any side effects but if taken in large quantities at once they may cause extreme low blood pressure and stomach problems. People with sensitive stomach are therefore advised not to take more than recommended dosage of these supplements at one time.

Some people who are allergic to fish oil or medication may experience some side effects from omega 3. These conditions include infections, stomach disorder, headache, nausea, diarrhea or constipation.

These symptoms go away after a few days when the stomach gets used to the supplement product being consumed. However, if they don’t go away you should stop taking the capsules and see a doctor.

Pregnant women should intake adequate amounts of fatty acids, both omega 3 and omega 6. But before consuming any supplement product they should consult a doctor and ask about its effectiveness. They should remember that omega 3 fats are required for proper development of their baby’s brain and they also help in the prevention of birth defects and deformities.

Finding good quality omega 3 supplements online is not that difficult. You should keep in mind that not all products use pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Look for refined and pure fish oil products which use molecularly distilled oil and are clinically tested and approved.

In addition to this, it has also been found that hoki fish oil is better and more effective than oil extracted from the tissues of other fish. This is because of the reason that these fish are found in New Zealand where waters are pure and free from impurities, contaminants and heavy metals.

Omega 3 supplements are good for people who suffer from arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and depression. They are also good for the prevention of heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Omega 3 fats control hyperactivity in children and prevent degenerative diseases in old age. They are good for reducing triglyceride levels in the body and inflammation. If you suffer from any of these diseases and conditions omega 3 is a must to add to your everyday diet.
